I've been arrested on a drug charge. What happens in the next 48 hours?

After an arrest, the investigating authority must either request a detention warrant within 48 hours or release you. During this window you will usually be questioned, and samples and your phone may be taken. This is the most important period of the entire case. A lawyer should meet you as early as possible — ideally before your first full interview.
