Q
Can my embassy stop the case or get me out of detention?
A Answer
No. Your embassy or consulate can confirm your wellbeing, contact your family, and provide a list of local lawyers. It cannot intervene in a Korean criminal case or overrule Korean courts. You have the right to request consular notification after arrest, and you should use it — but legal defense comes from your lawyer.
