Can I challenge a departure ban?

Yes. You may file an objection with the Ministry of Justice, and in some cases pursue an administrative challenge. Objections are more persuasive when there is a concrete reason to travel (a family emergency, a contract abroad) and evidence that you will return. Your defense lawyer can also ask the investigator or prosecutor directly whether the ban is still necessary.
