Q
I'm married to a Korean citizen and have children here. Will that stop a deportation?
A Answer
It will not automatically stop it, but it matters. Family ties in Korea are weighed both by the criminal court at sentencing and by immigration when deciding on removal. Document them well: marriage and family registration records, your role in supporting the household, and letters from family. These ties are often the strongest mitigating factor a foreign defendant has.
