Q
If the judge orders detention, how long can I be held?
A Answer
Before indictment, the police can hold you for up to 10 days, and the prosecutor for up to 10 days more, extendable once by another 10. If you are indicted, detention can continue during trial under separate time limits. You may ask the court to review the legality of your detention, and after indictment you may apply for bail.
