NEWS Local Elections Just Around the Corner, “Nomination Donation” Investig…

By Lee Yoo-rim, Edaily — With less than a month remaining before the June 3 local elections, the investigation into the “nomination donation” allegations that shook the political circle continues to make little progress. Some point out that police, concerned about the potential impact on the election, are effectively stepping back from the investigation under the pretext of “political neutrality.”

Attorney Chon Hyeong Hwan, a former police officer, said, “From the police’s perspective, there is a considerable practical burden in summoning and questioning a candidate who is actively campaigning during the election period. Therefore, the existing investigation into the nomination donation allegations is likely to gain momentum after the local elections.”
