Operating Simultaneously in Seoul and Bangkok, Providing Global Criminal Defense and Corporate Legal Services
Mega-X Law Office, led by former police officer-turned attorney Chon Hyeong Hwan, announced on the 24th that it officially opened in Seocho-gu, Seoul, on the 8th. The opening follows the launch of its overseas office in Bangkok, Thailand, in January, and marks the full-scale launch of an international criminal law platform connecting Korea and Thailand.
Mega-X Law Office is structured to specialize in criminal case response, providing professional legal services throughout the entire process, from the initial stages of police investigations to trial proceedings. In particular, the firm is characterized by both accessibility and professional expertise, operating “criminal defense package services optimized for police-stage response” and premium customized strategies for high-risk cases.
Managing Partner Chon Hyeong Hwan graduated from the Korean National Police University and served for approximately 13 years at institutions including the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency and Jeonju Wansan Police Station, where he led investigative teams dedicated to sex crimes, domestic violence, and juvenile cases.
He later became an attorney and joined YK Law Firm, where he served as head of the police criminal defense division and as a partner attorney. He also established a police response center composed of former police officer-attorneys and advisors, leading the handling of numerous major criminal cases reported in the media.
Attorney Chon said, “Mega-X’s goal is to provide practical solutions to individuals and companies in crisis, based on hands-on experience with the investigative processes of the police and prosecution.”
Mega-X’s Thailand office, located in Bangkok, provides on-site response services for Koreans and foreigners involved in criminal cases, including drug offenses, sex crimes, and immigration violations. These services include interpretation accompaniment, police appearance support, and assistance with bail applications.
At the same time, the office also provides corporate legal advisory services, including foreign corporate establishment in Thailand, visa and work permit consultation, BOI applications, and trademark registration, strengthening its role as a legal hub connecting Korea and Thailand.
From the outset, Mega-X designed a dual structure encompassing both criminal defense and international corporate law. The firm has built a strategic system capable of responding to complex cases in an integrated manner and is also preparing for future expansion into Southeast Asia and the establishment of a global partnership network.
