Mega-X Law Office, led by Managing Partner Chon Hyeong Hwan, officially opened on April 8. Following the establishment of its overseas office in Bangkok, Thailand, in January, the firm has also opened an office in Seoul. Mega-X plans to launch full-scale cross-border criminal legal services connecting Korea and Thailand.
The Seoul office is structured to specialize in criminal case response. It provides legal advice throughout the entire process, from the initial stages of police investigations to trial proceedings, and also operates criminal defense package services (390, 590, and 790) as well as customized strategies for high-risk cases.
The Bangkok office provides support services for Koreans and foreigners involved in criminal cases, including drug offenses, sex crimes, and immigration violations. These services include on-site interpretation, accompaniment for police appearances, and assistance with bail applications. The office also provides corporate legal advisory services in Thailand, including foreign corporate establishment, visa and work permit consultation, trademark registration, and BOI applications.
Mega-X operates under a dual structure that integrates criminal defense and corporate law. The firm is also considering future expansion into Southeast Asia and the establishment of a global partnership network.
Managing Partner Chon Hyeong Hwan, 44, who passed the 7th Korean Bar Examination, graduated from the Korean National Police University and served at the Jeonbuk Provincial Police Agency and Jeonju Wansan Police Station, among other posts, as an investigative team leader in charge of sex crimes, domestic violence, and juvenile cases.
After serving in the police for approximately 13 years, he became an attorney and worked at YK Law Firm as head of the police criminal defense division and as a partner attorney. He also established a response center composed of former police officer-attorneys and advisors, providing legal advice in major criminal cases.
Attorney Chon said, “Mega-X’s goal is to provide practical solutions to individuals and companies in crisis, based on hands-on experience with the investigative processes of the police and prosecution.”
