Those who caused a disturbance at the Seoul Western District Court in protest of the issuance of an arrest warrant for former President Yoon Suk Yeol were sentenced to prison in the first trial.

As the court issued its first ruling four months after the incident, the decision is expected to serve as a benchmark for sentencing other participants.

Attorney Chon Hyeong Hwan of Mega-X Law Office said, “Because the incident occurred on the same day and involved many participants, sentencing will be determined according to the degree of each individual’s involvement.”

He added, “However, this ruling appears likely to serve as an important milestone for the sentencing of the remaining defendants.”

Attorney Chon emphasized, “The defendants committed acts close to terrorism out of strong distrust and anger toward the judiciary. This is a serious incident that shakes the foundation of the judicial system. It must be dealt with strictly under the law.”
