By Cho So-hyun, The Fact — Police have secured a recorded phone call containing allegations that singer Kim Ho-joong, who was arrested on charges including drunk driving hit-and-run and switching drivers, urged his manager to make a false confession. Police are now accelerating their supplementary investigation.
Police are considering applying the more serious charge of instigation, rather than aiding an offender’s escape, against Kim.

Attorney Chon Hyeong Hwan of YK Law Firm said, “The fact that police applied the charge of causing injury by dangerous driving, which carries a heavier statutory sentence and is more unfavorable to the suspect, appears to indicate that they have secured sufficient evidence.”
He added, “There may be evidence showing that Kim was staggering at the time of the accident, or materials such as the route of Kim’s vehicle and closed-circuit television footage that would lead anyone to conclude that he had consumed a significant amount of alcohol.”
