Jeon Cheong-jo, 27, who became embroiled in fraud allegations after being identified as the remarriage partner of former national fencing team member Nam Hyun-hee, 42, was arrested by police on the 31st of last month.

Jeon is suspected of committing multiple crimes, including fraud, child abuse, and stalking. Under current law, a person who has served a sentence of imprisonment or heavier punishment and commits another offense punishable by imprisonment or heavier punishment within three years may be subject to aggravated punishment. In addition, if multiple criminal charges are recognized, the case may be treated as concurrent offenses, and punishment is imposed based on the most serious offense.

Attorney Chon Hyeong Hwan of YK Law Firm, a former police officer, said, “In this case, there are more victims from fraud than from stalking or child abuse, and the issue of whether there was a conspiracy with Nam Hyun-hee is extremely important.”
