By Hong Soo-hyun, Edaily — Police have addressed criticism that the decision on whether to detain actor Yoo Ah-in, 37, whose real name is Uhm Hong-sik, has been delayed amid allegations of habitual drug use.
National Police Agency Commissioner General Yoon Hee-keun held a press briefing on May 1 at the National Police Agency in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, and outlined the investigation plan.

Those inside and outside the police view Yoo’s case as unusual. Attorney Chon Hyeong Hwan of YK Law Firm, a former police officer, told Chosun Biz, “It is rare for four types of narcotic substances to be detected, but in Yoo’s case, five were found.”
Because Yoo is alleged to have used more types of narcotics than other drug offenders, and because the distribution and supply channels may differ for each substance, the investigation is expected to take longer.
