SEOUL, Yonhap News Agency — A person identified as A had entered the sexually exploitative Telegram chat room known as the “Nth Room Doctor’s Room” and possessed child and youth sexual abuse materials.

“In the case of fixed-term teachers as well, provisions should be added to the Educational Public Officials Act or the Private School Act to include fixed-term teachers within the scope of teachers subject to mandatory removal from duty. In addition, it is necessary to legislate a ban on appointment even while an investigation is ongoing.
As of 2020, if a person receives a suspended indictment or is sentenced to a fine of less than KRW 1 million, there is no legal issue under the current law. Therefore, additional measures could be considered to exclude such individuals from the classroom as well.”
