Prosecutors have requested arrest warrants for Kim Sung-hoon, deputy chief of the Presidential Security Service, and Lee Kwang-woo, head of the security division.
(Omitted)
Attorney Chon Hyeong Hwan of YK Law Firm, a former police officer, said, “At the investigation stage, a suspect may be detained when there is a risk of destroying evidence or fleeing, or when there is concern that significant disruption may occur at the trial stage.”
He added, “It seems the police may have proceeded to a fourth request because they believed detention was necessary, taking into account the possibility that the suspects could ultimately receive prison sentences.”
